About the Position / Current Initiatives

Build rail's first hybrid cloud to enable millions of freight transactions a day with an open-source stack that delivers the lowest unit cost of technology. The role works within a team that owns horizontal infrastructure layers (compute, storage, virtualization, networking, identity). Primary day-to-day responsibility is in the domain of specialization, but the person works as part of a larger team that owns all infrastructure areas. Projects involve modernizing legacy infrastructure while building new cloud-native capabilities.

About the Team Structure + Culture

The team is executing an aggressive and technically challenging roadmap to build a hybrid cloud infrastructure that modernizes legacy systems while enabling cloud-native capabilities. Goals include automating and stabilizing existing systems, understanding their gaps, and designing new infrastructure that closes those gaps. The team aims to support the railroad industry's technology needs across both legacy and modern systems.

At BNSF Railway, we encourage individuals from all backgrounds to apply, showcasing their skills, experiences, and development. We provide resources and tools to help you reach your full potential, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
