Job Description

About the Role

Takt Engineering is seeking a Software Developer on behalf of a client to build quick-turnaround UI/UX prototypes and internal tools that support engineering and operations programs. This role is centered on translating workflow needs across PLM, ERP, and MES processes into functional interfaces fast, then iterating with users until the tool is good enough to unblock work. This is a strong fit for a developer who likes building practical UI/UX quickly and is comfortable working close to the engineering and design process.

Job Responsibilities

  • Build functional UI/UX prototypes and internal tools that support engineering workflow, drawing management, and production operations.
  • Develop prototype interfaces for engineering-facing processes such as BOM management, document/drawing integration, change order tracking, and configuration panels.
  • Integrate with or replace legacy PLM/ERP/MES systems (e.g., Teamcenter, Oracle) per client’s specific requirements.
  • Build and maintain APIs and backend services that support prototype interfaces, including data models, validation, and cross-system integration.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional full-stack software development experience.
  • Proven ability to deliver functional tools quickly with minimal oversight. Self-directed, high-output work style required.
  • Proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript (React, Next.js) and Python for rapid tool and API development.
  • Experience integrating with or working around enterprise systems including PLM (e.g., Teamcenter), ERP (e.g., Oracle), or MES platforms, at a configuration or API level.
  • Background supporting or working alongside engineering/design processes: drawing management, BOM workflows, change management, or similar.
  • Experience building and deploying containerized applications (Docker) on cloud infrastructure (AWS or Azure).
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and legally authorized to work as a 1099 contractor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience configuring, replacing, or bridging tools like Teamcenter, Oracle, Agile PLM, SAP, or similar enterprise platforms.
  • Familiarity with engineering data structures: CAD metadata, drawing trees, BOM hierarchies, revision workflows.
  • Experience working in FedRAMP, CUI, or DoD/military-regulated environments with security-first development practices. Familiarity with DISA STIGs and CUI handling is a plus, as is clearance eligibility.
  • Track record shipping production tools fast—days to weeks, not
  • months—and iterating based on direct user feedback.
