Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) is recruiting for a Senior Database Administrator to manage the physical databases used by VDOE and manage the DBM’s vendor.

This position allows for remote eligibility on a case by case bias, dependent upon your location. Anyone located *less than*60 miles outside of the Richmond, VA area would be required to work a hybrid schedule.

They will work with VITA to provide a reliable and stable environment for both the applications and databases, provide database administration of DOE databases, ensure proper security and backup of the data, assist with new database requirements, maintain the currency of the database technology, and perform all activities necessary to provide proactive maintenance to avoid unplanned service interruption.

The Senior Database Administrator would be expected to perform the following duties

Ensure all contacts with Oracle, VITA, and other vendors are maintained.

• Maintenance contracts, licenses, and agreements are reviewed and renewed on time to ensure no interruption of service occurs.
• Conduct all VDOE database administration and security vulnerability remediation, as well as, Oracle database administration.
• Perform upgrades and security patching as needed.
