Network Engineer

This is a remote contract position with a network consulting firm providing support services to clients. This person will receive technical support tickets regarding service requests from our clients. Work will be part-time on an as needed basis. Travel will be possible but optional to individual client sites. Primarily, the work will be performed remotely. We are looking for someone with strong experience supporting networks and end-users, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and can provide exceptional customer service. This is a job for someone with hands-on network experience and is willing to do the work that is required to excel in this field. You must be extremely reliable, trustworthy, and pay close attention to detail. This job has the potential to become a full-time position.

Requirements

• A high-level Server/Network/Workstation Administrator with at least 4 years of customer service and technical experience.
• Experience with MS365 Admin Centers, Exchange, Entra ID, Purview, SharePoint.
• MS365 user creation, license assignment, password reset, group memberships, MFA configuration.
• Experience with email flow troubleshooting – MX, SPF, DMARC, DKIM, bounce-back analysis.
• Experience with Proofpoint and Barracuda a plus.
• Experience in Windows 11 optimization, malware, and PUP removal.
• Able to configure and support Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems including Active Directory user management, DHCP, DNS, RDS, RRAS, Group Policies.
• Knowledge of iPhone and Android devices, installing apps, configuring MS365 Exchange accounts, configuring MS and Google Authenticator apps.
• Solid Knowledge and working experience with backup technologies including DATTO BCDR, cloud based agents, OneDrive Sync.
• Knowledge of Antivirus applications, primarily Symantec Endpoint Security and ESET Advanced Protection.
• Client network management, SMB and network printing, drive mapping, credential management, domain join.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP subnetting and routing, DNS, DHCP, Wireless Access Points, Firewalls, Site-to-Site and client VPN configuration.
• SonicWall firewall and SSL VPN knowledge a plus.
• In depth DNS record management with GoDaddy, Network Solutions, and others.
• WordPress and webhosting configuration experience.
• Able to perform problem diagnosis and resolution for Internet connectivity issues including working with ISP’s to report an outage and providing traceroute and ping information.
• Must be able to troubleshoot hardware, replace and clone storage, install an Windows 11 OS from flash drive, download and install drivers and updates, join to AD domain, set local user groups, install end user applications and updates, and restore user profile data.
• Able to do some heavy lifting to install/setup servers and workstations, experience with server enclosures, rack mounting servers, switches, and clean cable routing.
• Familiarity with Dell workstations, notebooks, and servers is a plus.

Responsibilities will include: management and maintenance of Microsoft networks (including Active Directory, Group Policies, Folder Redirection), help desk and phone support for end users, troubleshooting and resolving other IT-related issues, and working with the team on IT projects (such as Server migrations, WAN implementations, and set-up and configuration of networks, servers, desktops and laptops). Administer and manage Active Directory user accounts, groups, print queues, NTFS and Share permissions, DFS Replication, NTFS Site Replication, directory structures and server file structures, remote access, and other infrastructure-related services in accordance with security policies, best practices and standard procedures.
