Our platform, Circular OS, helps organizations verify recycling activity, track materials throughout the supply chain, and navigate emerging Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a highly motivated, adaptable Lead Full Stack Software Engineer to take ownership of the continued development of Circular OS.

Our priority is speed to market without sacrificing the reliability of the platform.

We need someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment, embraces new technologies, and can turn concepts into functional software quickly. You will work directly with leadership to translate business needs, product concepts, and prototypes into production-ready solutions.

This is not a role where you will spend months developing a single feature. We are looking for someone who can think independently, solve problems creatively, and continuously deliver meaningful improvements. As the company grows, you will also help shape our engineering practices and future development team.

What You'll DoProduct Development & Execution

· Own the development, maintenance, and deployment of Circular OS across the full technology stack.

· Rapidly translate product concepts, workflows, and prototypes into functional, production-ready features.

· Prioritize speed to market, delivering incremental improvements rather than waiting for perfect solutions.

· Independently identify technical challenges, evaluate alternatives, and implement practical solutions.

· Build compelling, functional product demonstrations to support sales and customer engagement.

AI & Emerging Technologies

· Leverage AI development tools daily to accelerate coding, debugging, testing, and deployment.

· Continuously evaluate emerging technologies that can improve development speed and platform capabilities.

· Build AI-powered features, including document extraction, intelligent assistants, automated workflows, and data reconciliation.

· Identify opportunities to automate repetitive development and operational processes.

Platform Ownership & Scalability

· Manage frontend, backend, database architecture, integrations, and deployment.

· Develop scalable systems capable of handling complex regulatory requirements and large datasets.

· Maintain strong standards for security, platform reliability, and data integrity.

· Support security and compliance initiatives, including ISO 27001.

· Maintain practical documentation that allows future engineers to contribute efficiently.

Collaboration & Adaptability

· Work directly with leadership and nontechnical stakeholders to understand evolving business priorities.

· Adapt quickly as customer requirements, regulations, and business opportunities change.

· Communicate progress, challenges, and tradeoffs clearly.

· Take ownership of outcomes rather than simply completing assigned tasks.

What We're Looking ForTechnical Experience

· Strong experience with TypeScript, React, Next.js, and Node.js in production web applications.

· Strong backend development skills and experience with PostgreSQL.

· Experience working with PostgreSQL, SQL migrations, and modern database tooling; experience with serverless Postgres and modern TypeScript ORMs strongly preferred.

· Hands-on experience using AI development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Lovable, or similar platforms.

· Experience designing and implementing automated document extraction and processing systems, including OCR, AI-powered data extraction, document classification, and structured data validation.

· Experience building software that processes, reconciles, and analyzes data from multiple sources.

· Experience integrating LLM APIs, automations, and third-party services.

· Ability to independently manage the development lifecycle from initial concept through production deployment.

Our Current Technology Stack

Circular OS is an existing, production software platform. You should be comfortable working within an established codebase, understanding its architecture, and shipping improvements without unnecessary rewrites. Experience with our core stack is especially valuable. Familiarity with every supporting tool is not required, and we will walk you through the full setup once you join.

· Core: TypeScript, Next.js, React, and Node.js.

· Data: PostgreSQL with a modern ORM and SQL migrations.

· Cloud: Serverless hosting with background job processing.

· AI: Integrations with leading large language model providers for document extraction, data processing, and intelligent features.

· Quality: Automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and production monitoring.

· Development: AI-assisted development tools and modern design tooling.

· Familiarity with regulatory compliance, financial technology, or audit-grade data systems.

· Experience building automated data reconciliation, document verification, and reporting workflows.

· Experience working at an early-stage startup or as a founding engineer.

· Experience with payments and billing integrations such as Stripe.

· Familiarity with ISO 27001 or SOC 2 security frameworks.

· Interest in sustainability, recycling, or environmental technology.
